Below you will find our partners in Leuven with which we work on more sustainable and healthier consumption and city.
Non-profit organizations
Aroma’s
Aroma’s is a non-profit organization which fights against loneliness and food waste with knife and fork, by bringing elderly and young people into contact with each other through informal cooking sessions. We transform surplus food into tasty dishes, allowing both young and old to share their culinary and life experiences over a delightful meal.
After three successful years in Ghent, Aroma’s is expanding to Leuven. We are happy to contribute to the establishment and operation of this valuable initiative in the student city.
At Biotoop, we strive to minimize food waste and promote healthy, sustainable eating habits. Therefore, we gladly provide surplus food and ingredients for the cooking evenings.
International House Leuven
International House is a vibrant hub for local networking, community building and opportunities for learning and discovering new things. Above all, it functions as an information, knowledge, and service centre catering to internationals and their families residing, working or studying in Leuven, providing assistance with the practical aspects of living in Belgium and helping them establish a home away from home.
Food is certainly an essential part of daily life regardless of where you live. Our collaboration commenced thus with a focus on enriching the local experience and helping people navigate Leuven’s food scene. Recognizing a gap on the website of International House, we contributed a practical, personal guide about finding sustainable and healthy food in the city. Jan penned a blog sharing his top 10 places and initiatives for sourcing sustainable, local food. The blog can be found here.
We have also worked together to enhancing the sustainability of International House’s cooking workshops. By sourcing sustainable ingredients from the Leuven-based shop Biotoop, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable and responsible approach and healthier food consumption.
Last but not least, we were also pleased to be a sponsor of the first edition of Expatival—an event brimming with workshops, an info market, and activities designed to familiarize internationals with Leuven, covering aspects of daily life such as living, working in the city.
